Let’s talk about it!
Champions and high performers are continually under pressure to succeed. But success can also bring about self-doubt, imposter syndrome, anxiety, isolation, and even depression; battles often fought unknowingly.
In light of Naomi Osaka’s recent withdrawal from the French Open after sharing on social media that she wouldn’t do press because she wanted to manage her mental health, I thought it was a good time to check in. So often we talk about mental toughness, but rarely if ever, do we talk about mental health so let’s start a conversation, if not with each other, at least with ourselves.
How often do you check in with yourself to see how well you’re managing overall?
What support systems do you have in place when things get REALLY challenging?
How far are you willing to go to ensure you protect your personal well-being?
Women tend to be nurturers and caretakers for so many others, sometimes neglecting themselves in the process. Today, I’m encouraging you to do a self-check to make sure that you are not yielding to external pressures that may be putting you in harm’s way.
It’s a difficult decision, but sometimes it’s necessary to take a step back, to pause, reassess and refuel to ensure that you are fully healthy ——- mind, body, and spirit.
Mental health matters —- and so do you.
